What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jawbone to support a replacement tooth, bridge or denture. If you have multiple missing or damaged teeth, it is possible to replace a full arch of teeth. That is called an All-on-4.

Bionic Smile’s All-on-4 procedure is 12 “real’ zirconia teeth placed on 4 implants.

What are dental implants made out of?

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed into your jawbone. Why titanium? They are strong and biocompatible so they fuse with your jaw.

What are the teeth made out of?

While most dental clinics use acrylic or hybrid teeth, Bionic Smile uses the highest quality Zirconia. Why Zirconia? They look like natural teeth but they are much stronger and more durable than regular teeth. Zirconia is also stain resistant and biocompatible so they last a lifetime.

What makes a good candidate for dental implants?

You should have good oral health and enough jawbone to support the implant. If you don’t have enough, you can do a bone grafting procedure to help repair and grow missing jawbone.

Are dental implants painful?

The procedure itself is usually done under local anesthesia or sedation, so you shouldn’t feel any pain. However, some discomfort and swelling my occur afterwards, which can be managed by medication.

How long do dental implants last?

Depending on the quality of materials, with proper care, Bionic Smile’s All-on-4s can last a lifetime.

Are dental implants safe? Can they fail?

Dental implants have a 98% success rate. While rare, dental implants can fail if they don’t fuse properly with the jawbone, or if there is an infection or other complication. This is why it is important to find the right place for the procedure. With good dentistry, proper care and maintenance, the risk of implant failure is low.
